You will work in close partnership the Head of Sale and the Business Director, with a specific focus on managing departmental projects in New York and ensuring close communications within the Asia Division.

Marketing, Sweeps, Catalogue Production and Client Development will be particular areas of responsibility.


* Support two various owner Classical Chinese Paintings sales per year held in Spring and Fall in New York, and single owner sales as appropriate
* Manage and coordinate with internal Marketing, Press and Editorial departments for all sale related content, advertising and publicity
* Act as the department link for all \"Single Owner, multi-department\" sales
* Participate in proposal strategy meetings and coordinate production with proposals and design departments; utilize and update departmental templates for single lot, single owner sequences and single owner sale proposals
* Act as point of contact for catalogue production process, taking specific responsibility for page count adherence, deadline timeline planning and design of custom layouts
* Provide basic cataloguing for Chinese Paintings portion of Saturday at Sotheby's multi-departmental sale; act as departmental liaison for sale working closely with Head of Sale.
* Assist specialists with photography, color proofing and exhibition set up

* Manage department translation and research consultants, undertake Chinese language translation work for the department as needed
* Assist specialists with all Trusts and Estates and Valuations department inquiries
* Assist specialists with client visits and appraisals, including follow up and research as required
* Working closely with Head of Sale and Client Development, develop and manage client strategy for museum, dealer, and private clients; organize and manage budget for relevant client visits, regional visits and appraisal days
* Working closely with Head of Sale, initiate and manage all business-getting and sale related marketing
* Attend weekly department staff meetings, object meetings and other meetings as required
* Assist specialists with client enquiries by answering phone and responding to emails
* Assist clients during the exhibition and follow up with buyers, begin to identify, build and maintain key client relationships (dealers, private collectors, museums)
* Act as relationship manager assistant to Head of Sale
* Handle ad-hoc projects as requested by management


* Bachelor's Degree with minimum of 3 years work experience in office environment
* Fluency in English and Mandarin required; Cantonese fluency preferred
* Fluency in written Chinese required
* Interest in Chinese Paintings or Chinese Art helpful
* Highly-organized and detail oriented
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Graphic Design experience preferred or knowledge of Adobe software, including Photoshop and InDesign
* Ability to multi-task and prioritize while working under pressure
* Ability to exercise judgment and discretion with top-tier clients
* Excellent interpersonal skills with both internal and external clients
* Team player with positive attitude and able to establish close working relationships with support departments and administrative colleagues
* Able to work independently as well on projects
* Willing to work long hours during peak seasons and exhibitions weekends
