As an SEL Application Engineer, you will be the bridge that serves both the product development team and the industry, ensuring our products continue to solve the problems of tomorrow! You will be a product expert, supporting the product as well as providing tools and resources for training and teaching others how our products best serve the industry. Maintain and improve knowledge of power systems, focus area*,and all related SEL products.2. Help customers apply SEL products through visits, demonstrations, training courses and telephone contact.3. Contribute to product specifications, application and testing software, and literature.4. Participate in SEL marketing and sales activities and industry technical meetings and conferences.5. Teach in training schools for customers and SEL personnel.6. Maintain customer database for customer application and quality information.7. Continuously identify, measure, follow, and improve marketing, sales, and engineering quality procedures.8. Other duties as assigned.Required QualificationsB.S. in Electrical Engineering, equivalent degree, or equivalent work experience3 years experience in power systems, industry practices, and focus area*Completion of SEL Engineering Development Program or equivalent work experienceProven technical training, speaking, writing, and customer service skillsAbility to direct daily work activities with general supervisionAbility to travelStrong writing, documentation, and speaking skillsAbility to learn new skills and assume new responsibilitiesAbility to work cooperatively in a team environmentBackground check results satisfactory to SELNegative drug test result(s)Preferred QualificationsM.S. in Electrical Engineering, with emphasis in focus area*Published application guidesExperience using SEL productsFocus Area = Protection, Automation, Communications, Metering, or DistributionProtection = system protection, protective relays and their applications, settings, and testingAutomation = software, integration and automation, industrial controls, PLCs, industry protocols (IEC-61850, DNP, Modbus), Ethernet systems, protocol analyzers, and industry SCADA practicesCommunications = fiber optic, microwave and spread-spectrum radio, and wired protection and control network communications systems, including TDM and Ethernet technologies, communications test sets and analyzers, and industry network design and security practicesDistribution = Fault Indicators and Sensors (product and system specifications), recloser controls, voltage regulators, capacitor bank controls, distribution automation, arc sense technology, and related distribution applications.Metering = Revenue metering equipment, Load Profile recorders, analysis of power quality and metering reports, MV90 integration, revenue-class instrument transformer selectionPhysical RequirementsNoneLocation InformationThis position is located in King of Prussia, PA.
