Sr. IoT Field Application Engineer
The IoT Applications Engineer will be part of Richardson RFPD's North American engineering team and will provide field applications support to key customers for IoT products and solutions that include sensing, connectivity hardware, application software, security and cloud services.
Working in conjunction with the local technical marketing and sales team, the IoT Applications Engineer will also act as technical advisor for the sales force and will play a key role in the execution of Richardson RFPD IoT corporate strategy in the territory.
+ Has an advanced understanding of customer's needs and will leverage Richardson RFPD's line card, engineering and design services resources to identify & facilitate IoT solutions for customers.
+ Responsible for architecting and developing solution specifications, a preliminary feasibility assessment and the provide guidance with the engineering execution. The IoT Applications Engineer will work closely with Richardson RFPD's corporate engineering team as well as third-party design support entities to ensure successful completion of these projects.
+ Coordinate development of preliminary use-case testing of IoT hardware and software, device management software for wireless connectivity, perform on-site demonstrations and enable solution integration in customer's product.
+ Develop and drive strategic technical plans by supplier line or customer solutions. Organize engineering customer events and participate in trade shows representing Richardson RFPD as the technical subject matter expert.
+ Attend supplier product trainings in person or via conference calls and keep abreast of emerging new technology by participating in industry workshops and seminars.
? BSEE or related engineering degree and 5+ years of engineering experience.
? Experience working with various IoT Service and Application layers, IoT protocols, embedded Linux systems, microcontroller and sensors.
? Demonstrated working knowledge of wireless technologies such as Cellular (GSM, UMTS, LTE, LTE-A, 5G-NR), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ZigBee and GNSS experience.
? Familiarity with RF test platforms such as Keysight, Rhode & Schwartz, Anritsu and other protocol communications test equipment and tools. (Wi-Fi analyzers, packet sniffers and protocol tester)
? Familiarity with hardware simulation, layout, antenna design and the cellular equipment certification process.
? Excellent communication skills and ability to consult in a client-facing role.
? Strong technical presentation and analytical skills.
? Traveling required 20-25% of the time.
